All, As most of you know by now, yesterday the ESB was featured on NBC Bay Area as “Best Secret Spot” in the Bay Area. It was pretty funny to have TV cameras in the pub for a second time in the past 5 years… as I’ve been telling my wife since the spot aired [...]

Well, gang. I’m typing this from our “pub garden”, with the Sunday evening NFL game about to start. Our kids are playing here in the backyard and I’m wondering if the last three days in Denver really happened. Thankfully, I have the video footage to prove that it did. You already saw what happened on [...]
All, For those of you that have been following the ESB since the beginning, you’ll know that our unofficial house band is The Famous (we even emptied our front room one New Years Eve and they performed live to welcome the New Year). Unfortunately, we don’t have a license that allows us to book live [...]
All, I wanted to let you know that I’ll be brewing our Elizabeth Street Bitter recipe with the 21st Amendment crew this coming Saturday, August 1 at their brewpub near the SF Giants ballpark. Using their 12-barrel system, we’ll be starting early in the morning but will still be definitely well into the brew when [...]

All, Contrary to perception here on the blog, we are still very much alive and kicking over at the Elizabeth Street Brewery. Granted, the majority of our communication is currently being done via Twitter (@ESBAle), so if you’re not on there you may have missed our past 2 open houses. One of which was this [...]

We had a great turn out last Saturday for our open house. The positive response to what we’re hoping to achieve here is fantastic. I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support. The photo below of the event was taken by Addison’s Godfather, one of my best friends, and one of the founding [...]
Although my quote could have been better (“I got married so I needed a hobby” – what was I thinking??), Doug did a great piece on us for the local paper, The Noe Valley Voice. On a quiet corner in the heart of Noe Valley is a blue building with a (not-too) secret life. In [...]
Hi all, Apologies right off the bat for the radio silence this past week+. My day job has been a little busier than usual and I haven’t had a free moment to post anything til now. We’ve held two open houses in the past three weeks. Both saw us open up the pub to a [...]

I attended this month’s NVDC meeting last night which I’m told was far busier than usual (about 150 people vs the usual 15-20). This will most likely be due to the fact that the guests of honor were representatives from Whole Foods (who had come to talk about the price of shrimp and their vegan [...]
As I already indicated, my wife and I each have day jobs that we are committed to and the ESB is simply a brewpub in planning. As a result, we don’t have fixed “open hours” when neighbors, friends and family can stop by for a pint. This doesn’t mean we don’t open at all. Depending [...]
