It is with great excitement and anticipation that I share some pretty cool news with you all. The folks at 21st Amendment Brewpub and Restaurant have selected our ESB recipe as their entry to this year’s Pro-Am tournament at the Great American Beer Festival in late September.
The Pro-Am tournament joins an amateur brewer (in this case, yours truly) with a fully licensed brewpub to produce a homebrew recipe on a full-scale brewpub operation.
This means that I’ll be joining head brewer, Jesse Houck, on August 1 at the 21st Amendment, to brew 12 barrels of our ESB recipe. (To put that in perspective, I brew 10 gallons of it at a time normally – this will be about 390 gallons). Allie and I will be traveling to Denver at the end of September to see it getting poured for the masses.
I’ve grown pretty close with the 21st Amendment crew over the past few years. My father and I spent the better part of three days with co-founder and master brewer, Shaun O’Sullivan at the Craft Beer Conference in Austin, Texas back in 2007. We’ve been talking beer together ever since. I can’t wait to join forces on this one-of-a-kind brew next month. It’s a great honor and regardless of whether we win a medal or not, I just want the brands – and San Francisco brewing overall – to be represented well in Denver in September.
NBC Bay Area put together a small video clip that includes some info regarding the collaboration. You can check it out right here:
